As
a cartoonist Wallace Wihongi provided cartoons to several New
Zealand newspapers for more than 20 years. After spending 4 years on
kidney dialysis and having a kidney transplant in 2009, Wallace
turned his talents to putting some cheer and humour back into the
lives of others facing kidney failure. The result - Wallace
Wihongi's Kidney Fix - an irreverant look at the trials and
tribulations of dialysis and kidney transplant.
Cartooning
is the art of exaggeration. The cartoons in this book do not
represent the true nature of kidney dialysis and the transplant
procedure, merely exaggerations of it.
The
purpose is to raise the patient's spirit, to perhaps elicit a
smile and in a small way, hasten the recovery.
